What we do

"Prayer Times & Qibla" is a free service for accurate prayer times and Qibla direction, covering more than 135,000 cities worldwide in 19 languages. We built this site so that anyone — from a major metropolis to a small town — has fast, accurate, no-registration access to this information.

How prayer times are calculated

Times are calculated astronomically from a city's geographic coordinates, time zone, and one of the widely used calculation methods (Muslim World League, ISNA, Egyptian General Authority, Umm al-Qura, Karachi, and others) — you can choose the method and the Asr madhab in the city settings.

How the Qibla direction is calculated

The Qibla direction is calculated using the great-circle method — the shortest path along the Earth's surface from a city's coordinates to the Kaaba in Mecca. The on-site Qibla compass can use your phone's orientation sensors to display the direction in real time.

Data sources

Our city database is based on the open GeoNames geographical dataset. Localized city names in various languages are sourced from Wikidata.

Widget and API

We offer a free embeddable widget and an API for developers and site owners who want to display prayer times on their own websites — see the API page for details.
